Research:

"Use of antibiotics in sharply cut/ lacerated hand injuries".( On going trial)
Mohmand MH, Titley OG, Sterne G, Nancarrow JD
In this trial we are comparing the results between irrigation alone and irrigation with systemic antibiotics. In cases when the repair is done with in 24 hrs of injury. We want to see whether antibiotic decreases the incidence of infection significantly or there is no significant difference.

Papers in progress

'Semitendinosis muscle Flap, a viable choice'
MH Mohmand, A krishna, JKG Laitung
(Ready for submission to PRS)
In this paper we have shown that Semitendinosis muscle flap can be easily raised on its minor pedicle for local reconstruction. It has less morbidity and can be used as an alternative to other locally available flaps.

Audit

I have conducted an audit of “Composite graft following traumatic amputation of ear” and have made a unit protocol so that we can see the effect of change of practice One case which was treated according to the protocol had more then95% graft survival. As compare to previous cases where the graft survival was round 50% and not reliable.
I have always been actively involved in audit meetings and have done audit on unit complications and other outcomes.

Teaching experience:
In Ninewells hospital, I am setting up a teaching module for nursing staff to have training in tissue expansion.

While working in above clinical posts I was actively involved in teaching undergraduate medical students during their visits to out-patients, wards and operation theatres on regular basis.

I have taught " Surgery in General" to undergraduate student nurses of DHQ Teaching Hospital on regular basis .
